The Parent/Student Portal is a real-time system, which means that assignment grades are visible as soon as they are entered by a teacher. This has several advantages and a few disadvantages. I want to outline the disadvantages so that all users have a clear idea of the limits of the site:
- Grades on the site are subject to change and not to be considered official.
- Cumulative grades may be misleading before the grading term is closed. This can be due to assignment weighting and calculation configurations that aren’t visible on the site.
- Block and semester grades should not be considered accurate at the end date of the term. There is a grading period of approximately a week between the last day of a term and the close of grades for that term. This gives teachers time to thoughtfully complete grades for assignments that fell toward the end of the term.
